Citywide Building Envelope was contracted to complete a restoration of six decks on this BC Housing property.
Replacement of vinyl membrane on six decks including:
- Rot repair
- Stucco repair
- Door threshold waterproofing without removal
- Removal and replacement of railings with custom aluminum side mount.
Citywide BE removed the existing vinyl membrane and plywood on six decks and inspected the structure for adequate slope and structural integrity. All issues were managed with site engineer. New plywood was applied, leveled, and Duradek vinyl membrane was applied. The vinyl was cut and fastened under the doorway threshold, rather than removing doors entirely.
Stucco was cut to accept the new vinyl membrane and then repaired, matching the colour to the existing stucco. New facia was installed with flashing. Custom side-mounted aluminum railings were fabricated and installed to match adjacent unit’s railings.
Citywide coordinated with the site engineer, a BC Housing representative, and a building tenant representative to manage the project. The unique needs of a resident population including seniors and adults with disabilities was given special attention. Federal background checks were obtained for all workers and sub trades and advanced notice was given for weekend work and deck access changes.
